You might be wondering if your 4K TV will be useful for the upcoming Super Bowl 53. Last year, many people were disappointed because they were not able to enjoy the spectacular moments in 4K.
Back then, NBC announced that the company had the broadcast rights to air the Super Bowl 2018, but not in 4K resolution. That was a massive disappointment for all football fans.
However, before ranting the channel, it is wise to consider the reason behind it. As we know from the current news, NBC’s Sports division has been pretty busy preparing the games of the NFL. They have been too busy so that they couldn’t make it to the airing of Super Bowl in 4K.
The big network should prepare the event of the year. They have already been compromised with the 2018 Winter Olympics. The NBC did not have enough time, resources, and workforce to prepare the 4K for the NFL Super Bowl 52.
However, for the upcoming NFL Super Bowl 53, we can watch the big event in 4K. Since CBS has the broadcast right, the network has great records when it comes to 4k events. Back then, DIRECTV aired CBS coverage of The Master’s event in 4K.
Although there was no confirmation yet from the CBS, we could be optimistic about the change. The statistics show that there would be 20% of US homes will likely to have 4k TVs by early 2019. This incredible percentage should be sensible enough for CBS to start the 4K broadcast trend in the NFL.
Let’s not neglect the fact that 4K TVs have been available in retail stores for several years. Not to mention that there have been significant numbers of new buyers who want to see their favorite shows in 4K. NBA and MLB games have been available in 4K. So, it is only a matter of time until we can see the NFL games, including Super Bowl, come in 4K.
Once again, there has been no sign or any indication that the CBS is planning for 4K edition of the Super Bowl 53. The respective channel will air the coverage right from Atlanta, Georgia. However, only aa few people are optimistic that the game will come out in 4K. We are in the mid-point of the 2018 season. It is a bit too late to confirm whether they will broadcast the Super Bowl 53 in 4K or not.
There is still a possibility that the 2019 Super Bowl will be in the 4K or not. As we know, DIRECTV has no problem in offering the 4K. Now, the decision depends on the CBS as the full broadcasting right holder of the show. We have asked the DIRECTV customer support about this, but still no definite answer.
He only said that we should be confident that Super Bowl 53 will be a 4K big event because CBS is familiar to provide the content in 4K. So, it would just make sense that DIRECTV will offer the Super Bowl 53 in 4K. Back then, DIRECTV was successfully delivering The Masters in 4K and people had given positive feedback for the service. CBS would surely have the prospects to attain the 4K production as well. It might be a longshot. However, who knows?
